Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the author of The Martian, a lone astronaut must save the earth from disaster in this “propulsive” (Entertainment Weekly), cinematic thriller full of suspense, humor, and fascinating science—in development as a major motion picture starring Ryan Gosling.

“An epic story of redemption, discovery and cool speculative sci-fi.”—USA Today

“If you loved The Martian, you’ll go crazy for Weir’s latest.”—The Washington Post

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission—and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.

Except that right now, he doesn’t know that. He can’t even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.

All he knows is that he’s been asleep for a very, very long time. And he’s just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it’s up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery—and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.

And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he’s got to do it all alone.

Or does he?

An irresistible interstellar adventure as only Andy Weir could deliver, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian—while taking us to places it never dreamed of going.

Really unique! Very science-based but a fun and creative story

I came across this book from a review while reading another book, that had nothing to do with this author. I am so happy that I took the time to find this book and purchase it!! I sure as heck could not follow the science part but it didn’t matter in the least. The author did such a wonderful job of explaining everything that I could follow it and not be lost. It’s so exciting when you find a new author who has such a great writing style! I’m hooked and ready to read every book this author puts out!! Fist bump 👊🏼

Couldn’t put it down. Loved the blend of suspense and SyFy. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually liked it better than The Martian. Can’t wait to see what Andy writes next.

As exciting as The Martian. Great story, and Weir writes math and science in such a way that I feel like I understand the processes he’s describing.
  • Not bad

Very similar story line to The Martian, but somehow felt slower and dragged on. Ending not expected but no big twist or surprise. Ok, but I wouldn’t read it again.
  • Pushes the boundaries of credibility.

I’m not talking about the “sci-fi” part which is pretty out there, but the story on Earth where all nations quietly cede authority to some technocrats that can compel anyone to do anything. Seems like a nerdy dream of someone who thinks engineers could fix everything if someone made them king of a world without pesky things like democracy and the rule of law.
